This is because Sakura Color Products invented and patented gel ink, a special ink delivery system and created the gel pen category within the industry. Archival quality ink which is chemically stable, waterproof and fade resistant. No smears, feathers or bleed-through on most papers and writes on both light and dark papers as well as glossy and matte surfaces. Not recommended for use on fabric.
