Ag + Technology is a unique combination containing silver ions with an antimicrobial membrane: it kills a wide spectrum of bacteria, including antibiotic-resistant bacteria. The silver reservoir prevents biofilm formation. Hydrofiber technology helps create an ideal healing environment, and Ag + technology works by trapping excess exudate, bacteria, and biofilms to help reduce infection and prevent maceration. It features fine lines for the wound bed, maintaining optimal moisture balance and eliminating dead spaces where bacteria and biofilms can grow. It responds to wound conditions by forming a cohesive gel-like material, while helping to reduce pain associated with dressing changes. Additional AQUACEL Ag + dressings can be used to control: wounds as a barrier to bacterial penetration of the dressing, which may help reduce infection; wounds with infection or increased risk of infection (Extra™ only); diabetic foot ulcers, leg ulcers, (venous stasis ulcers, arterial ulcers, and mixed etiology leg ulcers), and pressure ulcers / bedsores (partial and full thickness); surgical wounds; painful wounds; bleeding-prone wounds, such as mechanically or surgically debrided wounds; exudative tumor wounds, such as fungal skin tumors, fungal cancer, malignant skin tumors, Kaposi's sarcoma, and vascular sarcoma; wounds where bacteria are suspected or a contributing factor in delayed healing or non-progression. Additionally, AQUACEL Ag + adhesive dressings can be used in cavities and deep wounds, including sinus tracts, undermining, and tracking wounds.
