About the Workshop Facilitator

Umamah Ashmeel is a multidisciplinary artist working across drawing, painting, printmaking, and embroidery. Her work is inspired by stories, heritage, and nature, using vibrant colors, rich compositions, and expressive characters to bring visual narratives to life.

She holds a Master’s degree in Illustration from the University of the Arts London, a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from Dar Al-Hekma University in Jeddah, and a diploma in Visual Development for Animation from Idea Academy in Rome. Throughout her career, she has worked on five illustrated books and participated in exhibitions locally and in the UK.

Driven by a passion for spreading creativity, Umamah founded the Jeddah Drawing Club and has led drawing and coloring workshops with various cultural institutions. She is currently exploring new approaches in printmaking and illustration techniques, continuously expanding her visual storytelling practice.

Participants will be introduced to linoleum printmaking techniques—from design and carving to final printing—then apply their prints to Eid cards and explore different ideas for artistic gift wrapping as part of a cohesive creative experience.
