The Hijazi culture takes pride in the rich traditional customs they have starting with ‘Alzabon’ that was always worn by the Hijazi bride in “Gomra” Night which is a famous celebration that takes place right before the wedding. In this night the bride wears a traditional costume called ‘Alzaboun’ which is a special gown decorated with gold or silver embroidery, mostly in pink color, and constitutes of multiple layers made of tull. One of the special traditions that takes place on this night, is applying Henna on the bride hand and foot in pretty floral pattern.
Hence, for the beauty of this heritage having to grow up in, wanting it to live for generations to come, and for the world to know about, I chose my inspiration to be from Alzaboun costume reforming it in a modern way, where the embroidery pattern is inspired from the Henna tree decorated with silver coins that used to be popular accessories worn by brides.
