النصي عشب معمر موطنه المملكة العربية السعودية. منتشر بصورة واسعة في الصحراء حيث يشكل علفاً مهماً للحيوانات ومثبتاً للكثبان الرملية. وينمو في شكل كتل كثيفة ارتفاعها يصل حتى 60 سم.

ويتفرع الساق بكثافة عند قاعدته. وللنبات سوق نجيلية ملساء قائمة حتى ارتفاع 30 سم . ونصل الورقة ناعم فضي ومجعد يصل طوله حتى 15 سم.

والأزهار فضية تظهر معظم السنة على نورة عنقودية مركبة طولها حتى 15 سم . وتوجد شعيرات كثيفة عند نقطة التقاء الورقة مع عنقها. والقنبعات الريشية الموجودة عند قواعد السنيبلات تبقى لفترة طويلة. والنبات أكثر وجوداً في الربيع حيث يرعى بشدة بواسطة الحيوانات فيختفي.

1. ينمو النبات على الرمال الضحلة المستقرة والتربة الطمية الرملية وله تحمل كبيرة للملوحة.
2. هو ذو تحمل عالٍ جداً للجفاف وبعد تأسيس النبات قد يحتاج إلى الري عندما تكون هناك حاجة إلى تحسين مظهره الأخضر.
3. الإكثار يتم عن طريق البذرة.
4. هو من نباتات المرعى المهمة ويوصى به لتحسين التربة وإعادة إعمار موارد العلف الصحراوية.
5. له أهمية كبيرة في مقاومة تعرية التربة.
6. نظراً لسنابله الفضية شديدة الجاذبية والتي تتموج مع الرياح فإنه يعد عشباً ممتازاً لأغراض عمارة البيئة في المساحات الشاسعة. وحاجة هذا النبات إلى الصيانة تكاد تكون منعدمة.

Al-Nassi is a perennial herb native to Saudi Arabia. It is widely distributed in the desert, where it is an important fodder for animals and a stabilizer for sand dunes. It grows in dense clumps, up to 60 cm high.

 The stem is densely branched at its base. The plant has a smooth grassy stem up to 30 cm high. The leaf blade is smooth, silvery and wrinkled, up to 15 cm long.

 The flowers are silver and appear most of the year on a compound inflorescence, up to 15 cm long. There are dense bristles at the meeting point of the leaf with its neck. And the feathered hats at the bases of spikelets remain for a long time. The plant is more present in the spring when it is heavily grazing by animals and disappears.

1.  The plant grows on stable shallow sand and sandy loam soils and has a great salt tolerance.
2.  It is very drought tolerant and after the plant is established it may need watering when there is a need to improve its green appearance.
3.  Propagation is by seed.
4.  It is an important pasture plant and is recommended for soil improvement and for the reconstruction of desert forage resources.
5.  It is of great importance in resisting soil erosion.
6.  Due to its very attractive silver spikes that ripple with the wind, it is an excellent grass for ecological purposes in large areas. And the need for this plant for maintenance is almost non-existent.
