الشمام الروسي صنف من أصناف الشمام وهو نبات عشبي ذو جذور ممتدة، ينتمي إلى الفصيلة القرعية، مذاقه حلو ورائحته زكية.

أزهاره صفراء، صغيرة الحجم، ثماره كبيرة الحجم، بيضاوية الشكل ذات قشرة خشنة، ذات مذاق حلو.

1. يزرع الشمام الروسي في شهر يوليو وأغسطس و مارس.
2. يحتاج الشمام إلى جو مشمش، وتربة دافئة رطبة، يزرع في تربة جيدة التصريف معتدلة الملوحة.
3. يتكاثر من خلال البذور.
4. يستخدم في أطباق الفواكه، لأنها حلوة المذاق.
5. موطنه الأصلي الهند وأفغانستان وإيران، ويعد من المحاصيل القديمة، فقد زُرع في مصر من قبل الفراعنة، وزُرع في بعض بلدان البحر المتوسط، وفي آسيا الصغرى والوسطى وفي الصين.

The Russian melon is a type of melon, a herbaceous plant with extended roots. It belongs to the cucurbit family. It tastes sweet and smells good.

 Its flowers are yellow, small in size, and its fruits are large, oval in shape with a rough peel, with a sweet taste.

1.  Russian melon is sown in July, August and March.
2.  Melon needs an apricot atmosphere, and warm, moist soil, planted in well-drained, moderately saline soil.
3.  It reproduces through seeds.
4.  It is used in fruit dishes, because it tastes sweet.
5.  It is native to India, Afghanistan and Iran, and is one of the ancient crops. It was planted in Egypt by the pharaohs, and was planted in some countries of the Mediterranean, in Asia Minor and Central and in China.
