A tree that is native to the eastern Mediterranean basin and southwestern Asia. The plant has a normal growth rate, and a bushy crown usually has multiple stems. The leaves are semi-evergreen, alternate green full-edged and oval in shape. The branches are armed with small thorns. The plant reaches 14 meters in height and 9 meters in width. The plant has a wide and deep root system. The plant has little soil and irrigation requirements and can tolerate salinity. The flowers are unremarkable, born in tent-like clusters, yellow to light green in color. The fruits resemble apples and are about 1 cm in size. They are green at the beginning of their formation and turn brown with ripening. And propagation is done by seed and cuttings. This plant is one of the best plants on which to build the environment in deserts, as it grows well in many places, and the plant has great adaptation to the harsh desert conditions and with the climate of cities, and it almost does not need maintenance, needs little irrigation and pruning, and does not need to add nutrients. It can tolerate moderate salinity but is not suitable for stagnant water. The plant is very valuable in urban areas as a source of winds, for open public spaces, for cultivation in roads, in parks and private gardens, in roof gardens, in home yards, as a single specimen, and for afforestation purposes. Attention should be paid to fruit dropping when using this plant.
