أبو المكارم شجرة شبه متساقطة الأوراق من بوليفيا ويصل ارتفاعها إلى 35 متراً. والمزروع منها يصل ارتفاعه إلى 10 أمتار مكونا تاجاً مسطحاً يتسع مع تقدم العمر ليأخذ شكل المظلة ليصل عرضه إلى 10 أمتار.
الأوراق مركبة ريشية مكونة من وريقات عدة بيضاوية الشكل. وتظهر الأزهار في الفترة من نهاية الربيع وحتى بداية الصيف. وتحمل الأزهار بغزارة في شكل مجموعات وشكلها يشبه أزهار البسلة وهي ذهبية اللون.
الأزهار المتساقطة تكون غطاء كثيفاً على الأرض وهو ما يستوجب مراعاة ذلك عند استخدام هذا النبات بوصفه نقطة تركيز في المنتزهات والحدائق الكبيرة. والثمار عبارة عن قرون مجنحة. وبوصفه نباتاً مدارياً فإن هذه الشجرة تمر بمرحلة سكون حسب الظروف السائدة وليس حسب الموسم. وفي الرياض تتساقط الأوراق لفترة قصيرة في نهاية الشتاء وتنمو مجدداً بعد أسابيع قليلة. وقد يحدث الشيء نفسه للأوراق إذا تعرضت الشجرة لفترة جفاف طويلة في الصيف ولكن يمكن منع ذلك بالري المتوسط في التربة جيدة الصرف.

- الشجرة تتحمل الملوحة وتقاوم الصقيع الخفيف.
- يجب تحسين التربة القلوية بإضافة الكومبوست والأسمدة الحامضية.

- يتم الإكثار بسهولة بواسطة البذرة. وبعد تأسيس النبات فإن حاجته إلى الرعاية قليلة. والنبات مثالي بوصفه شجرة ظل وتساقط أزهاره وبذوره لا يشكل إزعاجاً. ويجب الانتباه إلى جذور هذا النبات لأن قوتها وانتشارها قد يكونان سبباً يف اقتلاع الأرصفة والممرات والإسفلت.
A semi-deciduous tree from Bolivia, reaching 35 meters in height. The planted ones reach a height of 10 meters, forming a flat crown that widens with age to take the shape of an umbrella, reaching a width of 10 meters. The leaves are feathery compound made of many oval leaves. The flowers appear from the end of spring until the beginning of summer. The flowers are carried profusely in the form of clusters, and their shape resembles pea flowers, which are golden in color. The fallen flowers form a dense cover on the ground, which must be taken into account when using this plant as a focal point in parks and large gardens. And the fruits are winged pods. As a tropical plant, this tree goes through a dormant stage according to the prevailing conditions and not according to the season. In Riyadh, the leaves shed for a short time at the end of winter and grow again after a few weeks. The same may happen to the leaves if the tree is exposed to a prolonged drought in the summer, but this can be prevented by moderate watering in well-drained soil. It can expose the tree to full sunlight. The tree is salt tolerant and light frost resistant. Alkaline soil should be improved by adding compost and acid fertilizers. Young trees should be trimmed and attached to a stent from the start to form a straight trunk. Propagation is done easily by seed. After the plant is established, the need for maintenance is minimal. The plant is ideal as a shade tree, and the dropping of its flowers and seeds is not a nuisance. Attention must be paid to the roots of this plant because its strength and spread may be the cause of uprooting sidewalks, driveways and asphalt.
