الجزانيا هو أشد الأصناف تحملاً للصقيع والجفاف. وهاتان الصفتان تجعلانه متأقلماً مع كثير من البيئات في موطنه الأصلي جنوب إفريقيا وكذلك في دول شبه الجزيرة العربية، حيث يعد من مغطيات التربة التي يعتمد عليها. ورغم مقاومته لجفاف التربة إلا أنه يستفيد من تكرار الري في الترب الرملية التي تسمح بالصرف الجيد. ويحتاج النبات إلى النمو في مكان يتعرض لضوء الشمس المباشر حيث تتفتح الأزهار نهاراً وتغلق عند مغيب الشمس. وتظهر أزهار صفراء فاتحة اللون بغزارة في فصلي الربيع والصيف، ومن وقت لآخر في الفصلين الآخرين. ولا يوجد إلا عدد قليل من الأنواع النباتية قادرة على الإنتاج الغزير من الأزهار كل عام تحت الظروف القاسية كالجزانيا. والنبات قادر على الزحف بصورة معتدلة وينتج أفرعاً قليلة متفرقة، ويصل ارتفاع النبات إلى 40 سم. والأوراق متبادلة طولها 10 سم وعرضها 3سم بيضاوية الشكل، والجزانيا مثالي بوصفه نبات تغطية للحدائق الصخرية، وإضافة إلى ذلك تعطي أوراقه الفضية تغايراً جيداً في خليط من النباتات على حواف الحدائق وفي أحواض الزهور والزراعات الكثيفة. وباطن الورقة وظاهرها مكسوان بزغب كثيف، وأحياناً بعد سنوات عدة تسقط الجزانيا الأوراق القدمية أسفل النبات، ولهذا يحتاج النبات عندئذ إلى التقليم الجائر أو الإزالة بالكلية. ويتكاثر الجزانيا مباشرة من البذور التي تزرع في أوائل فصل الربيع. أما الأصناف المطورة فيفضل إكثارها بالتجزئة أو عن طريق العقل الساقية في فصل الربيع أو الخريف.

The silver gazania is the most frost-tolerant variety. These two characteristics make it adapted to many environments in its native South Africa, as well as in the countries of the Arabian Peninsula, where it is considered one of the soil coverers on which it depends. Despite its resistance to soil drought, it benefits from frequent irrigation in sandy soils that allow for good drainage. The plant needs to grow in a place that is exposed to direct sunlight, as the flowers open during the day and close at sunset. Pale yellow blossoms appear abundantly in spring and summer, and from time to time in the other seasons. Only a few plant species are able to produce abundantly from flowers each year under harsh conditions such as gazania. The plant is able to crawl moderately and produces few sparse branches, and the height of the plant reaches 40 cm. The leaves are alternate, 10 cm in length and 3 cm in width are oval in shape, and geraniums are ideal as a cover plant for rock gardens. In addition, their silver leaves give good contrast in a mixture of plants on the edges of the gardens and in flowerbeds and dense plantings. The inside and the back of the leaf are covered with dense fluff, and sometimes after several years the old leaves fall to the bottom of the plant, and for this the plant then needs to be pruned or removed completely. Gazania propagates directly from seeds sown in early spring. As for the developed varieties, it is preferable to propagate by retail or by cuttings in spring or autumn.
