زهرة الربيع نبات معمر من الفصيلة الربيعية، ينمو في الخروج و المراعي وخاصة في الاراضي الكلسية، الأوراق بيضاوية الشكل خضراء منتفخة النصل، يصل إرتفاعها من 10-20 سم تقريباً ، وتُعد من بين أول الزهور التي تتفتح في الربيع.
الأزهار صفراء زاهية، المادة الفعالة لها طعم ورائحة تشبه رائحة اليانسون، ويحتوي على صابونين و غليكوسيدات نستخلص منها زيت يسمى كافور الربيع، الأجزاء المستخدمة طبيا هي الجذور و الإزهار. يستعمل مغلي الجذور لعلاج السعال، ويفيد مستجاب الأزهار في حالات الصداع و التهاب عصب الوجه،
وتمتاز أيضاً بألوانها المتعددة الزاهية فمنها الارجواني والاصفر والاحمر والوردي والازرق والابيض ، تظهر الأزهار على شكل أعمدة كروية على ساق شجاع تنبثق منه الورود.
