Al-Ghadia is a thornless shrub, one of the plants endemic to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the sandy lands that cover saline soils in the northern parts of the Kingdom. The shrub is evergreen, its branches are slender, and reach twice the height, and appear on the plant tiny flowers reduced to Mtk in the summer. The plant has a wedge root system that prefers to grow in light sandy and loamy soils with good drainage. It grows in poor soil and in saline and alkaline conditions. The plant needs direct sunlight and is drought tolerant. And natural propagation by seeds. The plant is sometimes infected with some insects. The scrub and myrtle form two important local shrub plants as a source of fuel and food for grazing animals. They are also very important in the process of stabilizing sand dunes and improving the environment, but their numbers have begun to decline as a result of the overexploitation of their natural habitats. In addition, harsh climatic conditions and overgrazing reduce their growth rate. Moreover, the natural regeneration process of shrubs is also hindered by burying the seeds so deep in the sand, which limits their germination. Attention must be paid to planting Al-Gadi plant due to its importance in stabilizing sand dunes, in afforestation operations and in planting windbreaks. The slow-growing plant requires the least amount of watering and the minimum maintenance requirements.
