الاسم الشائع : الديدحان أو شقائق النعمان.
الاسم العلمي : Papaver glaucum
تصنّف شقائق النعمان من النباتات البر ّية الحول ّية، منها ما هو بستان ّي وما هو بر ّي، وعادة ما تنمو مع بداية فصل الربيع،
ويطلق على شقائق النعمان عدة أسماء، منها: الدحنون، والحنون، وزهرة الدم، وخد العذراء، يكثر تواجدها في قا ّرة أوروبا،
وشمال أفريقيا، والمناطق المعتدلة من قارة آسيا خا ّصة بلاد الشام، ويعود سبب تسميتها بهذا الاسم نسبة للنعمان بن منذر،
واحد من ملوك القرن الماضي، أعجب بشدّة بلون وشكل هذه العشبة، تتواجد أزهار هذه العشبة على شكل مجموعات لتعطي
منظرا خلابا تتزين به الأرض بالإضافة إلى لونها الأحمر الملفت للنظر، وتنمو شقائق النعمان في بعض المناطق حتى يصل
طولها إلى 1 متر، تمتاز بساقها الصلب مع وجود شعيرات كثيفة حوله، أما أوراقها فتوجد أسفل الزهرة الملتفة على رأس
تمتاز شقائق النعمان بتركيبها الكيميائي الفريد، حيث يستخدم مسحوق أزهارها في علاج تقرحات الجلد وتسكين الآلام، كما
يمكن نقع أوراق الزهرة بعد تجفيف أوراق النبتة وطحنها وشرب المنقوع للعلاج من التهابات الصدر والاضطرابات العصبية، وعلاج
القولون العصبي، كما تستخدم في التخلّص من البلغم ونزلات البرد، كما تدخل عصارة وزيوت هذه العشبة في إنتاج مراهم ضمد
الجراح التي تعتمد على ماء الري لضعف تأثيرها خلال العلاج، من الممكن ظهور بعض الآثار الجانبية أثناء استخدام هذه العشبة
للعلاج، كما يفضل تجنب استخدامها من قبل الحوامل، وينصح بشرب منقوعها للمرضعة، حيث يزيد من كمية الحليب المنتج لديها،
كما تمتاز شقائق النعمان باحتوائها على صبغه حمراء، يمكن الاستفادة منها في عدة مجالات مثلا في صناعات الأوراق الملونة.
