شجرة الثويا او تويا أو العفص، من الشجيرات التي استخدمت في مجال الزينة، وتنسيق الحدائق، لما تتميز به من شكل هرمي مميز. وهي شجرة زينة صنوبرية ذو شكل مخروطي جميل، متفرعة للغاية مما يمنحها مظهرا رائعا، وهي شجرة ذو قيمة كبيرة نظرا لنموها السريع ومقاومتها للتلوث.
ويقع التويا ضمن الأشجار دائمة الخضرة، كما أنه يستطيع تحمل ظروف الطقس القاسية، بين ارتفاع درجة الحرارة إلى 40 درجة مئوية، وعلى العكس تحمل انخفاض درجات الحرارة التي تصل إلى الصقيع.
طرق الزراعه.
- تحتاج بذورل اثويا الى معاملة قبل الزراعة .
- ضع بعض البذور في قدح ماء يكون بدرجة حرارة الغرفة لمدة 48 ساعة بدون تغطية مع تغيير الماء مرة واحدة خلال هذه المدة .
- توضع البذور مع بعض البيتموس في كيس بلاستك مع وضعها في الثلاجة ل 30 يوما مع فحص البذور بين الحين والاخر للسقي لئلا تجف التربة ...
- جهّز اكواب الستيروفوم او اقدح الماء ..املا الاقداح ثلثي من تربة البيتموس وثلث من الكومبوست او البديل سماد متحلل ومعقم جيدا . ازرع البذور على عمق 1\4 أنج وضع الاقداح في كان على نافذة نصف مشمسة .
- بعد شهر سيتم الانبات ومن ثم تزرع في الحديقة بعد يكون النبات قد نمى جيدا .لاتسقي الا بعد جفاف التربة ولاتغدق في السقي كي لاتسمح للماء ان يركد على سطح التربة.

Thuja seeds need treatment before planting.
Put some seeds in a mug of water that is at room temperature for 48 hours without covering, changing the water once during this period.
The seeds are placed with some peat moss in a plastic bag and placed in the refrigerator for 30 days while checking the seeds from time to time for watering so that the soil does not dry out...
Prepare styrofoam cups or a glass of water. Fill the cups with two-thirds of the soil of peat moss and one-third of the compost or alternative fertilizer, well decomposed and sterilized. Sow the seeds at a depth of 1/4 inch and place the cups in a can on a semi-sunny window.
After a month, the germination will be done and then planted in the garden after the plant has grown well. Do not water until after the soil dries out, and do not overwater in order not to allow water to stagnate on the surface of the soil.
